In June 1962, construction commenced on a new “village-style” nursing home situated on eight acres of land on Harvard Avenue. Completed in August 1963, this facility was realized through the dedicated efforts of the Sisters under the leadership of the Community Superiors. Today, the House of Loreto holds a place of honor in the Canton community and surrounding areas

Origin of the Name: The Holy House of Loreto
The name "House of Loreto" is inspired by the Holy House of Loreto in Italy. According to tradition, this small stone house is where the Holy Family lived, and it was miraculously transported by angels from Nazareth to Loreto in 1294. This sacred house has been a significant pilgrimage site for centuries and symbolizes a place of love and care.

The Sisters and the staff are single minded in their focus on resident comfort and quality care. In addition, the Sisters and staff recognize the family needs for reassurance and support. Our family is so thankful that our mom resided at the House of Loreto. It was really what our mom needed at that time in her life. Other places we looked at were too crowded, and you had to share rooms, or the other places reminded us of a hospital. At the House of Loreto she had her own room, and bathroom. We had it decorated, and it looked very nice. She was grateful for the staff, and to be at the House of Loreto. We will be forever grateful to the Sisters and staff at the House of Loreto.
